Cash is now a problem for us.

With great regret we will need to reduce payments by cash. From 20th February 2017 onwards we will not wish to accept more than £100 in cash at any one time, and nor can we offer any discounts or combined/reduced pricing if payment is to be made by cash.
Debit card is our preferred method of payment, credit card is more than welcome but we need to charge 2% to cover charges.
The reason for this is that our bank (Santander) have introduced rubbish new ATM machines which make depositing cash a more laborious and really quite unsafe process. Whereas before an envelope of cash could be swiftly inserted into a slot, now cash has to be openly introduced into the machine. The machine then counts the amount but rejects notes which are in less than perfect condition. It’s a slow process that involves handling cash on the open street. It will probably mean that instead of banking cash after hours, the cash will need to be taken into the branch which can only be done during our opening hours.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We just wish banks weren’t allowed to treat us, their customers, so badly.
